AUSTIN, Minn. – Sexually abusing a small child is sending an Austin man to prison.
Mario Antonio Burciaga, 33, was sentenced Friday to 30 years behind bars, with credit for three years and 10 days already served. He must also pay a $20,000 fine and spend 10 years on conditional release after getting out of prison.
Burciaga was arrested in 2017 and convicted in May 2018 on three counts of 1st degree criminal sexual conduct. Austin police say the abuse was first reported in 2014 but the victim, then three years old, could not identify the abuser. It was not until 2016 that the child could provide the information to identify Burciaga.
