Hackenmueller out as Albert Lea wrestling coach

Paul Durbahn has been offered the position.

KIMT News 3 has learned that Andy Hackenmueller will not be taking over the Albert Lea wrestling program this season.  Hackenmueller was arrested for public intoxication in early October.  

The Albert Lea school district released the following statement: 


As the result of a recent investigation Albert Lea Area School’s has withdrawn it’s offer to Andy Hackenmueller to be Albert Lea High School’s Head Wrestling Coach. Mr. Hackenmueller will not be associated with the program in any manner.

Paul Durbahn, a teacher and coach at Albert Lea High School has been offered the position to be head coach of the wrestling team.

We expect that Coach Durbahn will uphold the high standards we have come to expect in our historically successful ALHS Wrestling program.

 

KIMT News 3 has learned that Durbahn has verbally accepted the head coaching position.
