FERTILE, Iowa – The Iowa State Patrol is identifying the people involved in an SUV/semi collision Monday morning in Worth County.
The Patrol says a semi driven by Norman K. Orlowski, 62 of Manly, was travling south on Balsam Avenue, west of Fertile, failed to stop for a stop sign and was hit by an SUV on Highway 9 driven by Brandi L. Betts, 35 of Mason City. Both the semi and the SUV came to a stop south of Highway 9.
Betts and three child passengers, ages 11, 9 and 8, were taken by Fertile EMS to Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa for treatment of their injuries. The State Patrol says their lives were saved because they were wearing their seat belts.
Orlowski was not harmed.
This accident happened around 7:30 am. The Worth County Sheriff’s Office, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, Fertile EMS, Forest City EMS, Manly EMS, Iowa DOT and Iowa DNR assisted at the scene.
