Vikings Making Cuts Moving Toward Camp AP
Eden Prairie, MN (AP) - Rookie quarterback Kyle Wright has
been waived by the Minnesota Vikings, who reduced their roster to
the 80-player maximum ahead of training camp.
More shuffling could come before the team reports to Minnesota
State, Mankato, on July 23. But the Vikings needed space for their
five draft picks, none of whom have yet to sign a contract.
Free-agent defensive backs Marcus Griffin and Travis Key were
waived earlier this week. The NFL previously allowed teams to have
more than 80 players in camp, using exemptions for those who
participated in the spring developmental league in Europe, which
has been shut down.
Wright had few opportunities with Tarvaris Jackson, Gus
Frerotte, Brooks Bollinger and rookie John David Booty ahead of him
on the depth chart.
