Hawkeye Coaches Touchy About Freeman AP
Des Moines, IA (AP) - Iowa coach Todd Lickliter won't talk
about guard Tony Freeman's decision to transfer.
Speaking Monday to reporters, Lickliter dodged numerous
questions about Freeman, saying he wouldn't discuss private
conversations he had with the player.
It was the first time Lickliter has taken questions about
Freeman since he announced his intentions to play elsewhere.
Freeman was the team's leading scorer last season.
Freeman had told reporters he was led to believe he wasn't
compatible with Lickliter's system. Freeman says the announcement
that Jarryd Cole and Cyrus Tate were named captains for next season
was the final straw.
Lickliter says he isn't comfortable trying to critique or
analyze Freeman's comments.
