Hawkeyes Start Spring Ball AP
Iowa City, IA (AP) - Iowa faces some early tests as spring
football season gets under way.
Coach Kirk Ferentz says two players won't be back, while several
others are plagued with injuries.
Ferentz says wide receiver Anthony Bowman has decided to
transfer. He and teammate Donimique Douglas were suspended from the
Hawkeyes last summer after being accused in a credit card fraud
case. Douglas left Iowa last year.
Defensive back Devan Moylan is not expected to return after an
injury-plagued career.
Ferentz says junior tight end Tony Moeaki (MO'-ee-AH'-kee) will
miss spring practice following a procedure on his wrist, the same
one he injured last year.
Also sitting out spring practice are offensive lineman Bryan
Bulaga (BOO'-laug-uh) and cornerback Jordan Bernstine. Both have
had shoulder surgery, but they are expected to be at full speed by
June.
Iowa finished last season at 6-and-6 and for the first time
since 2000, the Hawkeyes missed out on a bowl game.
The Hawkeyes' spring practice wraps up on April 19th with an
open practice at Kinnick Stadium.
