Nathan Gets New Deal With Twins AP
Fort Myers, FL. (AP) - The Minnesota Twins and closer Joe
Nathan have agreed to a four-year contract extension worth 47 (m)
million dollars.
The deal also calls for a 2012 club option for the two-time
All-Star.
Nathan was in the final year of a contract that called for a six
(m) million dollar salary in 2008. Several ace relieves around the
majors make far more than that.
Nathan gets 11-and-a-quarter (m) million dollars in each of the
next four seasons.
Nathan praised owner Carl Pohlad and his family for getting the
deal done, and says manager Ron Gardenhire and pitching coach Rick
Anderson were high on the list of why he wanted to stay.
