ALBERT LEA, Minn. - It's a historic day for the Freeborn County Sheriff's Office.
Deputy Christina Klimp became the first ever female patrol deputy for the department.
She was sworn in during a ceremony this morning at the county courthouse.
With the hire, they now have 18 deputies on staff.
The newest face in the department says she is honored and ready to serve.
“It's exciting to kind of break into a new level for female officers in the future and to kind of be the first one,” Deputy Klimp said. “It's exciting to do that. You know I’m up for the challenges and looking forward to it.”
Klimp adds she is looking forward to doing good things with the department and being around for a long time.
