ROSEVILLE, Minn. (AP) — Roseville police are investigating the death of a man who apparently drowned while fleeing from officers.
A St. Paul Pioneer Press report (http://bit.ly/161l3EX ) says the man was driving a vehicle with a tail-light violation. When police tried to stop him he sped away.
Officers found his car crashed in a nearby wooded area. A police dog tracked his scent to a lake, where police spotted him in the water about 50 yards from shore. He allegedly ignored their orders to come to shore.
The man was having difficulty staying afloat so four officers took off their duty belts, vests and boots and took turns diving and searching for him in about 20 feet of muddy water.
A water-rescue team finally located him. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
