MASON CITY, Iowa - Out of 25 Iowa communities, Mason City was chosen as one of the cities participating in the Iowa Public Television's (IPTV) new program "Ready for School."
Apps and different teaching tools will be provided by IPTV and will be available for the students up to age eight in the Mason City school district.
Teachers will incorporate the new media content in the classroom.
But it's not just for students already in kindergarten or elementary school...this program will help kids who are Pre-K and younger get ready for their time in the classroom.
“Their initiative really focuses on kids ages 2-8,” said Mike Penca, the executive director of learning support in elementary programs for Mason City.
“They’re partnering with not only schools but also come community agencies, the public library, pre-schools and daycare providers,” Penca said, “so you know it hits those kids that fall in that age range."
Apps and mobile programs they will be using will be available for download at the parent teacher conferences next Monday and Thursday.
