ALBERT LEA, MN -- Smokers are loading up in the Gopher state.
That's because cigarette sales in the state are on the increase.
It's thanks to a new cigarette tax that will take effect on July first.
Prices will increase about a dollar sixty per pack.
Locally, gas stations workers tell us they've seen more people coming in and buying before that tax happens.
"I've seen more people recently then I have in the past," Glenda Erickson of Ole's Eastside Shell said. "But now, because cigarettes are going up, it is increasing sales in cigarettes yes."
She expects to see many people coming in and purchasing cigarettes over the next two weeks.
