(Rochester, MN) -- One southern Minnesota county is done recounting ballots in the U.S. Senate race. The Olmsted County Auditor recounted ballots yesterday at the Mayo Civic Center.
The results were released Thursday afternoon. Incumbent Senator Norm Coleman received 35,316 votes in the recount, 16 less than the election day total. DFL challenger Al Franken got 28, 574 votes in the recount, 18 fewer than on election day.
The Coleman campaign is challenging 23 recount votes. Franken's campaign is challenging 20, and both campaigns are challenging a total of 41 recount votes. After one day, the Minnesota Secretary of State reported a little more than 15 percent of votes were recounted statewide.
The Minnesota Canvassing Board expects to complete the recount by December 19th.
Mower county will start its recount Monday.
