Freeborn County says it's looking at several funding options for the $500,000 project. Last month, a car drove past safety barricades on County Road 34. Two people have died from injuries in the crash. Freeborn County's Engineer says there is a lot of paperwork to get funding for the project.
"Disaster account team that's been out to look at that so that is a source of funding. So, we're pursuing, you know, four to five different funding streams right now so we have a safety net in place where there will be some state assistance if we can't get any other federal assistance for making this repair," Freeborn County Engineer Sue Miller said. "Being that we're pursuing several different funding sources, we've put in time lines and the paperwork....the paper trail process for four different time lines. So, we've done everything we could to make sure that the county stays eligible for every possible source of funding."
