Mason City, IA- Three teens are in detention after they're accused of damaging a Mason City Police car.
It happened early Tuesday morning. A police officer was driving near Hoover Elementary when a rock hit his windshield. Officers found the three teens on the roof.
They arrested Taylor Everett, William Collins, and Jordan Nehls. Police say they picked the wrong car to hit.
"It looked like there was other rocks out in the road, like they'd been throwing, I don't know if any other cars were hit yet per say, Just happened to hit a police car as it was driving by,” said Capt. Mike McKelvey.
The three teens are charged with criminal mischief and face $500 fines. Damage to the squad car was around $200.
