Bees in U.S. Buzzing Away by Cole Mathisen
KIMT News 3
Clear Lake, IA- An Iowa senator wants to help honey producers whose bee's are buzzing away.

Honey bees nationwide are disappearing from their hives.  Experts say one of the major causes is a condition called "Colony Collapse Disorder."  That's when older worker bees leave the hive and never return.

We talked to a man who only keeps a couple of hives as a hobby, But disappearing bee’s are also a concern for him.

"For me it's just a hobby but for me to keep the hobby goin' its very expensive cause bee's are expensive to keep," said Paul Chizek.

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley and other congressmen are telling the U.S. Department of Agriculture about their concern.  They are urging the agency to come up with a solution to the problem.
