FLOYD COUNTY IA. - Her is the latest flood report from Flouyd County Emergency Management officials.
*Heavy rains are possible again Today through Thursday night, which may cause additional flooding. There is a Flash Flood Watch in effect for this time period.
*Due to the possibility of more flooding in
Charles
City
, it is recommended that citizens try to refrain from putting their damaged materials on the curb. Further damage may be created by debris if flooding occurs. If you must remove items from your home, please put the materials on the homes address side curb.
*Residents must call their insurance company as soon as possible if they need to file a claim, even if they do not have flood insurance. FEMA assessment teams have had their work suspended pending further rainfall.
*Citizens should not come to the
Emergency
Operations
Center
at the CVTC. If you have questions, please call either 641-257-6313, or 641-228-3366.
*Meals, clothing, and general assistance will be available at
St. John
Lutheran
Church
. Meals will be served by the Red Cross from Noon to 1:30 PM, and then again from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.
*On Sunday, June 8th

was declared a disaster area by Gov. Chet Culver. At this time, 44 counties have been declared disaster areas in the State of
Iowa
. Governor Culver visited
Charles
City
on Monday, June 9th. He expressed concern to local officials. The Governor understands the gravity of the situation and the need for State support.
*An estimated 1,000 homes have been directly affected by river flooding county-wide.
*Flood clean-up kits will be available late this afternoon or tomorrow, and will be available at the
St. John
Lutheran
Church
. They include a bucket, mop, broom, squeegee, rubber gloves, bleach, and detergent.
*Tetanus shots are ordered, and due to a statewide shortage, it is unknown when they will be arriving.
*Throw away any food that may have come in contact with flood or storm water.
*Throw away any food that has an unusual odor, color, or texture.
*Throw away perishable foods (including meat, poultry, fish , eggs, and leftovers) that have been above 40 degrees Fahrenheit for 2 hours or more

*E-911 service for the Marble Rock Iowa telecom exchange is currently not operational. If citizens in the Marble Rock area have an emergency they should call 911 using a cellular phone.

residents is available by calling 641-424-4031.
*Hwy 18 East of Charles City near the
Chickasaw
County
line is closed indefinitely due to the roadway being washed out.
*Travel is limited throughout
Floyd
County
. Many roads throughout the county have flood damage, and may not be passable. Please stay out of any flood waters that may remain.
*Preliminary inspections have been made on Main St. Bridge in
Charles
City
, but further evaluation will be required once flood waters recede. The bridge will be re-opened only when it is determined to be safe.
