DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Governor Culver is to sign into law today a health care bill aimed at providing coverage for most Iowa children in the next three years.
Under the measure, the state will spend 25 million dollars to broaden programs that offer health coverage to children of the working poor. The expansion could come by increasing the income levels for families eligible for the Hawk-I program.
State officials estimate that 25,000 uninsured Iowa children are eligible for the program or Medicaid but are not enrolled. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
