MINNEAPOLIS, MN - The Metropolitan Mosquito Control District is
treating twenty thousand wetlands around the Twin Cities to try to
kill the pests, and to cut down on West Nile virus later this
summer.
The number of West Nile cases has increased each year in
Minnesota, up to 101 human cases last year. Human infection can
send victims to the hospital.
The Metropolitan Mosquito Control District has been in business
for 50 years, but the last seven have mostly been dedicated to
battling West Nile.
