Mason City, IA - The noise of cleaning up the mess is nothing compared to what Velma Tschetter woke up to Thursday morning.
"A thud, it sounded like a roaring thud," said Velma.
Even though several train cars roll through Velma's backyard she said she's never seen anything like this before.
Velma says the Iowa, Chicago & Eastern Railroad will often park rail cars on the tracks that run through her southwest Mason City property.
Six hours after the spill crews from the railroad are working to clean up the mess. A large vacuum will suck up all the soy grain, then Velma eventually expects a crane train to show up to take away the toppled car. Velma says she's more worried about what's underneath it. She planted cucumbers and tomatoes in her garden that's edged by lilac trees. She says veggies hadn't come up yet but her lilacs are likely gone for good.
A representative from I, C & E says the clean-up will probably continue into Friday. They say no one was hurt.
