Mason City, IA- The regions largest community college is welcoming a new president tonight. Debra Derr will take over for retiring NIACC president Michael Morrison. Derr is leaving work as the vice president for learner services at a technical college in Wisconsin. She has worked in community colleges for nearly 30 years. After spending much of her life on the west coast, she says she's excited to come to Iowa.

"Many people are so envious at the opportunity I have here. I'm excited, I'm looking forward to working for the college," said Derr.

Derr will take over in July, but hopes to start learning from Morrison right away.
