IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — The University of Iowa says a student attending one of its summer camps has been assaulted in downtown Iowa City.
The university says in a news release that the student was assaulted Monday afternoon. The student was then transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
The Iowa City Press-Citizen says (http://bit.ly/14WUksJ ) the school notified the student's parents, and the student has left Iowa City to return home.
UI spokesman Tom Moore says other summer camp students and their parents have been directed to the school's safety protocols. No other students have left their summer program because of the incident.
Law enforcement is investigating the incident. Additional information has not been released.
