CHARLES CITY, Iowa - A new superintendent is settling into his position at an area school district, and one of his goals is to make better use of social media.
At Monday nights Charles City school board meeting there was a big focus on meeting the new school superintendent Dan Cox.
But it was also a night to learn about some of his ideas.
And one of those is to reach out to the community via social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Podcasts instead of the usual monthly newsletter.
"When I get re-tweets from students and parents, so I know somebody is paying attention to this. They'll favorite something that I tweet teachers as well," said Cox.
Cox used to be superintendent at Hoover-Waterloo.
He says he plans to have a Facebook page created for the school by October, but for now, you can follow him on Twitter.
