Clear Lake, IA - The historic water tower is down in Clear Lake and that is leaving some prime property open near the water.
At this point, all that's left of the water tower is a pile of dirt.
But that won't be the case for long.
Clear Lake City Council voted Monday to have an architect company by the name of RDG, to take over the project.
The goal is to hear from the public in the coming summer months to see what they would like done with the area.
And locals, appreciate that they'll be included in the process.
"Maybe another business go in there area, maybe something that could serve drinks or snacks to tourists that are spending time there on the beach," said Brandon Pals of Clear Lake.
Megan Gelner of Clear Lake agrees something should go there that everyone can benefit from.
"I think it would be nice to have kind of extended water pad for the smaller kids who don't really want to dive into the lake yet," said Gelner.
City council is spending roughly 24,000 dollars to get RDG's help with the project.
One planner says by end of June they hope to be able to present a few ideas.
