DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Police have arrested a 19-year-old Des Moines man they believe fired shots at firefighters who had just finished battling a blaze.
The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/13qcaHw) that the shooting occurred shortly before 4 a.m. in a southwest Des Moines neighborhood.
Four firefighters say they were climbing into their pumper truck when they heard gunshots and saw a muzzle flash nearby. No one was hurt, but one bullet hit the fire truck.
Des Moines Police Sgt. Steve Woody says police were called, and officer found the suspect about 10 minutes later.
Alonzo Lee Kearney has been charged with four counts of intimidation with a dangerous weapon. He remains in the Polk County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
