MASON CITY, IA - An assault happened on Saturday night in downtown Mason City.
Just after midnight there was an incident involving group on a party bus who had come from the Clear Lake area.
During their drive over to Mason City, a fight broke out on the bus and a passenger approached the driver and told him someone was bleeding in the back of the bus.
Lt. Ron Vandeweerd of the Mason City Police Department said, "around 1:00 we received a call to go to the ER and that a female had been assaulted while on a party bus."
The bus owner said that this particular group has been an issue for her in the past and that they have been turned away when making an offer on renting out buses from the company.
The victim was taken to mercy hospital and suffered a non-life threatening wound to the head
Officials are still investigating the situation and are trying to gather any information they can from witnesses about what happened.
