OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) — Ottumwa police have issued a warrant for a 19-year-old man who is charged with assaulting a 2-year-old boy.
The Ottumwa Courier reports (http://bit.ly/10TV2TP ) police issued the warrant Friday for 19-year-old Dustin Dewayne Armstrong. He's charged with child endangerment and willful injury.
The charges stem from an April 22 incident in which police were called to an Ottumwa home where a toddler was unresponsive. He was taken to an Ottumwa hospital, then flown to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, where he remained in pediatric intensive care with head injuries.
Police are seeking Armstrong, who was with the boy when he was injured.
Armstrong says the boy had a seizure. Before calling police, he changed the boy's pants, took him to bed and started a load of laundry.
