LINN GROVE, Iowa (AP) — A 61-year-old Iowa man has drowned on a river in the northwest corner of the state.
KTIV reports (http://bit.ly/1aZUDGr ) that Robert Wiese of Greenville died Saturday afternoon.
The Buena Vista County Sheriff's department says the incident was reported around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
Witnesses told authorities that Wiese went into the river while working with a boat and never resurfaced.
Rescuers found Wiese's body about a half mile downstream about two hours later.
Authorities say Wiese and his small boat were swept away by the current as he was trying to unload the boat.
