DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A Des Moines police officer who was pinned by a truck last month has left a Minnesota hospital.
Des Moines television station KCCI says (http://bit.ly/198qM0y ) Lt. Joe Gonzalez has left the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He is resting with family at an undisclosed location.
Gonzalez was transferred to the hospital after his condition worsened from injuries sustained July 13 while he worked in an off-duty capacity at the World Food Prize building in downtown Des Moines.
Gonzalez, a department veteran, was providing uniformed security outside the building when the rear of a truck pinned him against a wall. He suffered two collapsed lungs and 13 broken ribs.
