DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Fire has damaged a 148-year-old house in Davenport.
Davenport Fire Marshal Mike Hayman tells the Quad-City Times (http://bit.ly/1bvGvoB ) the fire was reported Friday morning in the house built in 1865 by the Runge family.
Firefighters who arrived found flames and smoke coming from a second-story window.
The fire did significant damage but was confined to the second floor.
District Chief Robbie Minnaert says fighting the fire was complicated by the home's steep staircase leading to the second floor.
