DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Police say a 25-year-old Davenport woman has been shot to death, and a Davenport man has been arrested across the Mississippi River in Illinois.
The Quad-City Times reports (http://bit.ly/11UpGM2) that officers responding to a report of a shooting found Amanda Abbott dead at a Davenport address shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.
Police have not released details of the shooting, but neighbors say they heard screaming before Abbott was found shot.
Hours later, police in Milan, Ill., arrested 22-year-old Albert "A.J." Coats at a trailer park. Police say Coats initially refused to come out of a trailer home, but was soon taken into custody.
He remains in the Rock Island County Jail awaiting extradition to Iowa on warrants charging him with second-degree murder and other counts.
