DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A 29-year-old Davenport man is behind bars on charges of kidnapping and raping a woman.
The Quad-City Times reports (http://bit.ly/16952Kq) that Nathan Ronnau faces up to life in prison if convicted of first-degree kidnapping and second-degree rape.
Police say the attack happened before 3:30 a.m. Monday when a woman was attacked from behind, choked into unconsciousness, dragged to a wooded area and raped. Police say the victim regained consciousness during the assault and struck the man in the face. Police say the man then beat the woman.
Police say the victim picked Ronnau out of a photo lineup.
Ronnau told officers he was too intoxicated early Monday to remember what happened.
He remained in the Scott County Jail on Thursday and could not be reached for comment.
