CLARION, IA - The 7 women and 5 men who make up the jury in the Noah Crooks murder trial Wednesday at 9am and deliberated for nearly 7 hours before submitting a question to Judge James Drew.
This is pretty significant because the judge told them to only submit questions if they absolutely need to.
Here was the question they asked:
"Close to hung jury, what do we do?"
Judge Drew then responded, "Council I propose to submit the following answer to the jury. "You should keep working and re read the instructions in particular number 42.""
Instruction #42 roughly says don't change your opinion just because to agree with another juror and don't change your opinion just to return a verdict.
This jury has a very difficult decision to make and they're going to need more time. They were excused at 4:30 this afternoon and will return to the Wright County Courthouse tomorrow morning at 9am to continue deliberations.
