CLEAR LAKE, Iowa Just last year, twelve children died in Iowa as a result of child abuse and one north Iowa community is remembering those victims.
The Cerro Gordo County Child Abuse Council is hosting events and demonstrations all weekend to help remember those children, and raise awareness in the community.
Cerro Gordo is ranked the 5th in the state for most cases of child abuse out of Iowa's 99 counties.
"As Malinda and I have been going out and talking and creating this awareness community members are saying "whoa, we need to step up this is not okay for our community to be at that level,"" says Co-President of the council, Christina Maulsby.
