INDICE DE GALERIAS
Mason City, IA - Drinking water in one local town is testing positive for bacteria, but officials say it's nothing harmful.
Results are in for Mason City's 2012 water quality report and the local drinking water tested positive for Coliforms in the drinking water.
It was found in water samples from a gas station near the southwest part of town.
The bacterium is found naturally in the environment, but is an indicator that other potentially, harmful bacteria may be present.
However, the Mason City Water Supply Superintendent, Greg Lee, says it's nothing to be worried about.
"If it was a major issue beyond that then we'd order a boil order issue, and then it would be more of a concern. In this case it's just a minor," said Lee.
Lee says it's not uncommon to find this type of bacteria in the water.
He says that they had the same issue last May.
