DURANT, Iowa (AP) — One person is dead and seven others have been injured in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in eastern Iowa.
The Iowa State Patrol tells the Quad-City Times (http://bit.ly/11UpRqs) that the crash happened early Saturday about five miles west of Durant. Investigators say all eight people were in a sport utility vehicle that crashed when a tire blew out, causing the SUV to roll several times.
The patrol says 21-year-old Ivon Carina Barajas Orozco, of Portland, Ore., died in the crash.
Seven others — including three children — were injured in the crash.
Those injured were taken to University Hospitals in Iowa City.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
