Mason City, IA- The Iowa House of Representatives gave the Mason City Chamber of Commerce a certificate for an idea that came out of a regular meeting. The chamber thought of a plan to encourage cities to increase energy saving programs.
The bill establishes "energy city" designations. The chamber said through this bill that designations gets extra incentives.
"Once they have that applying for competitive state government grants they'll get extra consideration of what they're doing in terms of renewable energy," said Robin Anderson, Mason City Chamber of Commerce.
The bill is part of the annual "Oughta be a Law" campaign.
