MASON CITY, IA - While the turkey dinner wasn't until Thursday, the big get-together may have been Wednesday night.

The day before Thanksgiving is historically one of the busiest days of the year for local bars.

Managers at the Mason City “Other Place” say it's a time when a lot of folks are back at home and want to see old friends.

While that means good business, it can potentially mean trouble with overcrowding.

"Oh yeah, it's really important, we're always getting fire marshals in here, and we don't want to break code, so we're always really careful," said manager Holly Fiser.

Fiser says underage customers are a big concern too; her bar went 21 plus before 9 pm and she says they're carding hard to make sure it stays that way.
