OSAGE, IA--Some are celebrating Pi Day not by eating the tasty treat, but by running. That's because today's date is 3-14, like the mathematical value.

In Osage, runners used the day to help raise money for some new classroom supplies. They held a Pi Day run, where the route was 3.14 miles. And yes, they started at 3:14 Sunday afternoon.

They're going to use the money they raised to buy some graphing calculators. “With having a spending freeze with in our department… this is one way where we're able to make up for some of that,” said Bill Gruman, one of the race coordinators.

Gruman says this is the first time they've done the run.He says they were thrilled with the turnout.
