MASON CITY, IA - The Mason City High School is currently under a lockdown situation as officials are investigating graffiti on a bathroom stall which was threatening in nature.
High school principal T.J. Jumper tells KIMT that it is a precautionary move to ensure the safety of students and staff. He said only one door is being used to enter and exit the school.
“We have been working with the Mason City Police Department,” said Jumper. “Our plans right now revolve around restricting the movement in the school. We realize there will be some inconveniences, but we’ll be working with students and parents on the matter.”
The principal said class are being held on the regular schedule and there has been no changes in Thursday and Friday schedules.
Jumper said a memo explaining the restrictions, particularly with backpacks and purses will be distributed to students and parents this afternoon. Stay tuned to KIMT-TV as the story develops.
