Duck Hunters Rescued Following Boating Mishap

ALBERT LEA, MN---A group of duck hunters is recovering after their boat overturns in Southern Minnesota on Sunday.

At around 10:45 a.m. Freeborn County deputies and the Albert Lea Fire Department answered a call about a 3 men in the middle of Pickerel Lake near Albert Lea.

The trio was rescued by Albert Lea Fire Department members using a Zodiac boat and another boater named Jeremy Hendrickson of Albert Lea who aided the rescue with his row boat.

The 3 were treated for cold exposure related injuries at Albert Lea Medical Center.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reported the 3 had been returning to shore after duck hunting when their overloaded boat capsized and sunk.

The group was not wearing life jackets.

The names of the men were not released.
