 Jeff Zell
Sports Director
Jeff Zell joined the KIMT Sports Team in August 2006 as weekend anchor and sports reporter. In July 2008, he became sports director. He's excited to lead the department and will strive to create a buzz for high school sports in North Iowa. While Jeff admits he loves the statistical nuances of each and every sport, he likes telling the stories of how and why athletes get to where they currently are.
Jeff came to KIMT from the great state of Texas. He graduated in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Texas. He proudly covered Longhorn Sports in college, doing some of the play-by-play of local high school and collegiate sports. Jeff takes pride in his Longhorns. One of his greatest sports moments was watching Texas defeat USC in the 2005 National Championship game. His favorite teams (in order): Texas Longhorns, Buffalo Bills and Houston Astros.
His favorite sports (in order): College Football, NFL, MLB, NBA, PGA, NHL.
Jeff has a personal blog which can be found at: www.sportshogwash.com. He welcomes visitors and opinions to that site. Outside of sports, there’s not much. He likes to golf, bowl and hang out with friends. If you see Jeff reporting on a story, stop and talk with him about any and all sports.
