Whether it's because it's convenient or just because of the taste. Every day...50 million Americans consume fast food.
Many restaurants like these list the calorie count of their menu items.
But a new study suggests that listing the amount of time it takes to burn off those calories is a better idea.
Researchers at a Texas university found that if consumers are aware of the number of minutes they'd have to exercise to work off the calories they're eating, they're more likely to order lower-calorie options.
But a local dietitian says studies like this don't always paint an accurate picture.
"There's so many ways that they can do studies that come up with different conclusions. So not knowing which things are right or wrong makes it hard for you to judge what to believe and what to do in your own, practical real life," said Heather Plizga, a Licensed Dietitian at Mayo Clinic Health Systems.
So whether you're counting the calories, or the amount of time it'll take you to burn them off, Plizga said moderation is key.
"I would definitely say that all food is game, you just have to make it fit within your goals. Whether that's the calories, or even just having a more balanced meal, so you're still having the things you like," Plizga said.
Early numbers show that the Minnesota legislature will have a lot of extra money to work with next year.
