as we approach winter á we know the temperatures are going to continue to fall. that's why now is a good time to look at some programs available to help households on low or fixed incomes pay for heating and electric bills. kimt news three's deedee stiepan joins us live this morning with that story. we've been hearing it from jon all morning and i can confirm... it is cold out this morning. while many will be turning on their heat á maybe for the first time this season á the reality is that's not always an option. the energy and heat assistance program is available for folks struggling cost of heating their homes in the winter. three rivers community action in rochester is accepting applications for the eáaáp and says this season grants range from 200 to 1400 dollars á which can < "we know, we've heard of families that have gone an entire winter without a furnace which i just can't imagine how one can do that. we know families with kids who will go with just turning their stove on or space heaters because their furnace isn't working so we can make a huge difference in those families lives." get this á only about 25 percent of eligible households apply for the energy assistance program. applications are now being accepted and are available online or by mail á you can also go to three rivers community action to pick one up. live in rochester thanks deedee. incomeáeligible homeowners can also benefit from furnace repairs and replacements through the program.///
