it's a trend we're continuing to see in rochester... old businesses closing and new ones opening up. "o & b shoes" is the latest business to announce it's closing up shop... after 85 years. and as kimt news three's annalisa pardo reports, it's not an easy goodbye. walking into o and b shoes... it sounds like a broken pping by, we appreciate it. ... of goodbyes. this is hard for me. i'm hugging customers goodbye. the shoe store is closing after 85 years. jeanine hadley is the co? owner along with her husband donald, who goes by the sole man. ma'am, how are you? john butrum has worked there for about 30 years. it's family, we're family. we consider ourselves a business family. the reality will really hit me when we turn the key and lock the door. o and b closing marks the end of a service that's hard to find today... which is why many customers are flooding in one last time. all because they wanted the chance to be fitted one last time before we close. because they didn't know where they were going to get their feet measured,or someone put shoes on them or make sure the size was right are actually care the fit was there. but it's not about the shoes, as much as the people in them. we're going to miss the people that we've made friends with, not only in the community but around the world, that's kind of the hardest part. everytime we hear, 'you're leaving,' it's like another piece of your the store is closing so jeanine and her husband donald can retire. no word yet on who is taking the space in downtown rochester when the store closes at the end of august.
