a conference happening in our area today aims to help minority business owners turn their dreams into reality. the co founders of rochester based tech start up 'solken technologies' are fairly new business owners so they hope to learn a lot at the conference which is being held thanks in part to the prosperity initiative which is a pilot project to promote growth of minority owned businesses in the region. ( and ) say having strong minority business owners in the community is important for creating a path for younger generations. "for them to be able to dream and create their own things and not be in the same, "oh i'm just going to school and work for someone," and never actually be able to own anything. for them to see other minority business owners that are able to create jobs maybe that will inspire them to do their own thing and do their own startups." here are the details ? the conference kicks off this morning at 10 o'clock ? at rctc's heintz center. it's being put on by the southern minnesota initiative foundation and is free but space is limited. the event will wrap up at 3?30
