rochester community are giving their input on what they would like to see happen in their city. kimt news 3's annalise johnson attended a strategic priorities focus group. she joins us now live in the rochester studio. annalise?xxx diversity focus-lintro-2 calyn - the city of rochester asked the diversity council to host the focus group. city-hired consultants from cincinnati-based organization 'management partners' had an informal round table conversation with members of the commmunity regarding inclusivity and diversity in rochester. the goal is to identify some strategic priorities as the city proceeds with strategic planning.xxx diversity focus-lpkg-1 diversity focus-pkg-2 what the mission of the city of rochester should be with regard to diversity and inclusion members of the community sat down with the consultants to discuss the city's strengths and weakenesses - a conversation diversity council executive director dee sabol is pleased the city is allowing diverse people to be a part of. diversity focus-pkg-4 culturally a rise in the significance of actual community engagement in design processes - in planning processes - because you cant plan for what you don't understand diversity focus-pkg-5 it's a conversation mary kautto thinks is important... she helps people who are blind or visually impaired travel safely - so she came today to speak up about issues that affect her clients and herself - including transportation and affordable housing. diversity focus-pkg-3 so that they can get a picture from everybody - not just one segment of the community diversity focus-pkg-6 attendees had a variety of issues they want to see the city adress. i think that 800million dollars can go a long way to make public transport more accessible sabol and kautto think bringing the opinions of people from all walks of life makes all the difference. when you involve individuals who are diverse - you get better richer diverse outcomes we don't want rochester to be just the top 1 percent - we want it to be an inclusive community for everybody this isn't the only focus group thats been going on... the consultants have been meeting with various groups since april - including a focus group of employees - property owners - the city boards and commissions - and the chamber of commerce. live in the rochester studio - annalise johnson - kimt news 3.
