we've had at least two state champions every day so far at iowa state track championships today we're hoping for more of the same in an action pack final day on the oval... we start with the girls sprint medley... the saint ansgar relay of finberg boerjan huisman and hanna take fifth in 1:52.49 and the osage relay of halbach olson kisley and jacobs follow... they take second by an eyelash in the first section taking 8th place overall in 2a with a time of 1:52.73./// next up it's the 3a girls 800 meters and the sensational ellie friesen... two state titles so far including yesterday's distance medley anchoring an impressive 800 leg for gold... give her number three today. she says the 800 is her toughest individual race but you can't tell here winning with room in 2:13.63.xxx i felt really strong going into the next 800 just because i know how fast i had entered that do you madame so going into this race i just felt totally confident and my goal was to kind of lead from the start i felt comfortable enough to do that and get a good position when the gun went off over to the boys 800 in class 1a... north union's riley bauer wanting another state track title his senior year... but he has to beat defending champ gable sieperda... with him the whole way bauer pulls ahead in the final 100 meters to break a class 1a state record and take gold in what he says is his strongest race with a 1:52.10.xxx it's amazing my family is everything to me they push me all the time they always tell me to go out and run and they picked me up pick me off the ground on thursday after my 400 and told me saturday is your day buddy and you're going to go out there and get it up in 2a ghv's ray cataldo is having a great senior day on the blue oval as well... he finishes with a state medal placing 7th in the 800 meters with a 1:58.80./// we put up the hurdles for the shuttle hurdle relay finals first the girls in class 3a algona's relay of johnson, reding, rindone, and holmes take 8th in 1:08.09./// boys turn, west hancock relay of yeakel, becker, hagen and smith makes the finals in 1a but and early jump gets them disqualified./// over to 2a lake mills is hoping to defend their state title in the boys shuttle hurle.... the relay of albert, boehmer, kaktis, and fjelstad win their section in 59.39 good enough for third place.xxx just through the whole season i mean we had confidence starting the year we really had a push to try to get down we all ran really well during the start of the year we just never really did all at once and finally getting that felt really good over to the 100 meter dash finals... first it's the class 3a girls... crestwood's katie saner already has two state medals, today she makes it three running a 12.58 to take 6th./// one boys sprinter for north iowa, he's in 3a as well algona's samonte bawden in lane one runs an 11.31 to place 7th in the state./// we've got a loaded field in the finals of the 2a girls 100 meter hurdles... osage freshman paige kisley takes 4th in lane 2 with a 15.58... forest city's kelsey koch in lane 1 is 5th with a 15.71 and ghv's madeline hinz takes 6th in lane 8 in 15.90./// boys turn... at 1a we have two finalist west hancock's josef smith in lane 2 and west fork's austin larson in lane 5... smith takes 7th... but warhawk's larson is your state champion... what a race for him clocking in at 14.45 for gold his senior season.xxx it's amazing because i was going for the school record all year which i got this race that was one of my goals and my other goal was to win so i accomplish both of my goals this year so i couldn't be any happier we have another outstanding senior hurdler in the 2a 110 highs... it's lake mills grant fjelstad straight from the relay he clocks a 14.71 to get lake mills a state champion.xxx i was told by kill beamer he said just get through it cleanly just run your own race and you'll like the outcome so that's what i was trying to do you know if i could get out hard and lead right away i would have a pretty good chance of holding it were not done with our state track coverage more from des moines..see how ellie friesen's career ends plus much more tonight at 10.... for now we will be right back.///s tonight:
