there have been more flu? related hospitalization s this season than anytime since the center for disease control started keeping track... and the epidemic is showing no signs of slowing down. kimt news three's deedee stiepan joins us live in studio with more on a push fund research to improve flu minnesota democratic senator amy klobuchar and other law makers will introduce the flu vaccine act this week... it calls for more research on a better vaccine at the national institute of health. according to the c?d?c flu vaccine effectiveness can vary from year to year among different age and risk groups. the most recent studies show vaccine reduces the risk of flu illness by about 40?60 percent making it the best line of defense. even age groups who aren't at an elevated risk ? like college aged? populations "as much as we try to prevent against it a lot of our students are undergoing a lot of stress and that can lower ones immune systems so we really try to take all of those factors in and hopefully will help reduce the stress but also recognize that this is a pretty stressful time for students." umr is offering free flu shot clinics for all their students and staff and so far this thanks deedee.
