Whitney joined the KIMT sports staff in July 2015 as the weekend sports anchor/reporter. She is excited to stay in her home state and start her career in sports broadcasting.
Whitney grew up in Altoona, Iowa, and attended Southeast Polk High School where she was a captain of her dance team, the RhythAMetteS, and danced competitively for 10 years. With both of her parents in the broadcasting industry, she found her passion for reporting at a young age (at just 3 years old, she helped her dad introduce “Sesame Street Live” in front of thousands of people).
Pursuing her dream career, Whitney attended the University of Iowa and graduated in May 2015. She graduated in three years total with a double major in journalism and mass communication and sport studies with a coaching authorization.
During Whitney’s time at Iowa, she worked for The Daily Iowan TV as a sports producer/anchor/reporter. She also worked for The Big Ten Network Student U as a sideline reporter, play-by-play talent and director for their live sporting events. She also gained experience as a sports intern for both KCRG-TV9/The Gazette and 680 The Fan, the number one sports radio station in Atlanta, Georgia.
Whitney was a regional Emmy nominee in 2014 for her feature story on Iowa’s running back Jordan Canzeri and received awards from the Iowa Broadcast News Association for her anchoring at DITV.
She is a born and raised Green Bay Packers fan and also loves the Iowa Hawkeyes, Minnesota Wild and the Atlanta Braves.
In her free time, Whitney enjoys watching sports, hanging out with friends and family and being a self-proclaimed professional napper.
Don’t be afraid to say hi when you see Whitney out covering sports!
