Mason City, IA

Mason City’s wrestling team is looking to make a statement this season.

If the Mohawks can’t do it with 6-ranked wrestlers this year, next year they’ll be just as dangerous.

"I think all of our guys think its going to be a good, fun year,” head coach Dusty Rhodes said. “We have great leadership. And its kind of funny because we have only two seniors in our varsity lineup.  These young guys step up and lead by example its fun to watch."

Of the six ranked wrestlers, only one is a senior.

The Mohawks are not ranked as a state tournament team. One Mohawk says that’s fine with him. He likes being a part of a team that flies under the radar.

“We can show people what we can do later in the season,” Senior Clint Krieger said. “No one is expecting much then we will pull through at the end of the year.”

Mason City will be a part of The Sports Pulse’s wrestling preview. The show airs Sunday 9pm on My3.2 or streaming live on Kimt.Com
